• EAC celebrated reaching their goal of enrolling over 10.7 million of the world’s most marginalised out of school children into quality primary education.
  • New partnerships with the governments of Djibouti, Zanzibar, Rwanda, and The Gambia were announced. EAC, through its Zero OOSC: Educate Every Child approach works with selected governments and partners on solutions that work for OOSC, encouraging multi-sectoral contributions and enabling children to realise their right to a quality primary education and in doing so access other rights. EAC’s Zero OOSC: Educate Every Child approach was also announced as an official action of the UN Decade of Action—encouraging acceleration towards the successful achievement of SDG4.
  • ROTA in session 1, led a high-level intergenerational discussion titled, ‘Strengthening Intergenerational Dialogue for Collaboration to Shape the Youth, Peace & Security Agenda’. The discussion was organised to ensure youth inclusion in shaping the projected outcomes for youth engagement in peace and security agendas. Recommendations from the discussion were integrated to the final roadmap that emerged out of the Youth and Peace Conference organised in January 2022.
  • ROTA in session 2, screened the South Sudan and Uganda-based youth film ‘Peacebuilding Through Their Eyes’ and held a panel discussion of a group of experts to draw conclusion and directives to inform the peacebuilding agenda. The film, shot by youth cameras, gave the youth in local communities the opportunity to record their perspectives on peacebuilding realities, approaches and challenges. The film captures the views of youth on how peacebuilding processes can be shaped and achieved through youth as peacebuilding advocates and thought leaders.
  • Two graduates of the Al Fakhoora Qatar Scholarship programme joined the WISE Summit and actively participated in the panel discussion entitled, ‘A New Generation: Reclaiming our Future in a Post-Pandemic World’. This interactive session led by Qatar Scholarship beneficiaries from across the MENA region, highlighted the unique skills that marginalised youth have acquired through the Civic Engagement Programme.
  • PEIC Youth Advocates curated and led an interactive session on ‘Fostering Youth Capacity’ along with youth advocates of partnering organisations. The session allowed the advocates to host meaningful dialogue, to dissect lessons learned, key takeaways and other key facets to youth capacity in meaningful advocacy. This session also hosted a direct line of communication between youth and visiting organisations, emphasising the need for all stakeholders to adapt to such sustainable practices.
  • PEIC hosted a Digital Escape Room at WISE 2021 to highlight the issues related to protection of education and the different mediums to its advocacy. The game followed a path that highlighted the gaps and tools needed to protect education from attack, emphasising EAA solutions with partners, with action items for attendees at the end.
